Systems Engineer

Role:   The System Engineer plays a key role in providing support to our clients and venues via remote access.  This includes a broad spectrum of clients with IT departments ranging from highly advanced to minimal IT staff and resources. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with exceptional customer service skills and an ability to think outside the box at times to come up with solutions.   Good communication skills to work with our clients and IT Representatives will be necessary to get the job done.   Responsibilities:   *Work with our clients to purchase & configure suitable servers for our ticketing applications*Work with our clients to keep their servers sufficiently current (upgraded, maintained) over their lifetime*Work with our clients to integrate their networks with Ticketmaster's for ticketing operations*Installation and setup of ticketing applications on application servers, followed by regular upgrades*Installation and setup of ticketing applications on Terminal Services, followed by regular upgrades*Initial installation of the database engine on database servers, followed by regular upgrades*Initial database build/load using data from other ticketing systems*Post-installation data migration into the database (typically from non-ticketing systems)*Database maintenance (re-index, data archiving)*Application, database, and connectivity troubleshooting*Manage the office's local network, servers, and laptops*Work with the develoment team on how to best utilize new technology (e.g. new database and Terminal Services features)*Deploy new technology (e.g. Windows 2008, virtualization, SSL VPNs) in a smart way*Create tools to increase productivity (monitoring, alert generation)*Most of what we do is done remotely via PcAnywhere & Remote Desktop*Weekend on-call rotation (once every 10 weeks)Qualifications:  *Experience providing remote support (any type of application)*Experience with databases (supporting, rebuilding, upgrading, troubleshooting)*Experience deploying and supporting Microsoft Terminal Services*Understanding of TCP/IP networking (sufficient to troubleshoot routing, access control issues)*Expertise with factors relating to server performance (server configuration, disk fragmentation)*A working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL)*Expertise loading/importing data from external systems*A working knowledge of a scripting language*Ability to adapt to new challenges, approaches, and technology*Experience with Ticketmaster's Archtics systems (this is a real bonus) ***System Engineer would possess multiple skills above, with an expertise in at least one.  Senior System Engineer would have expertise in mulitiple skills listed above.*** Competitive compensation and benefits package offered.
