Systems Specialist-IT Support

Job Description:Our client, located in White Plains, NY has a need for a Systems Specialist-Support. Responsibilities include: working with internal business clients and end-users to identify and specify complex business requirements and processes as well as translate system scope and objectives into specific system specifications and applications. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: • Support production systems via code change, debug and document complex programs with minimal or no direction • Work with development, operations, technical support and other technical personnel as appropriate throughout the development life cycle • Formulate and define system scope and objectives based on user needs and available development platforms, software, hardware, technologies and tools • Research, evaluate and recommend alternative solutions to business issues and recommend efficient cost effective solutions for the systems design considering: Existing systems, available technology, capacity and limitations of existing equipment • Design detailed systems testing plan to ensure an effective and high-quality product • Prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written • No direct supervisory responsibility • Various projects will require team leadership EDUCATION: • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant area of expertise, i.e. Computer Science • Master’s degree in business or Information Technology is a plus EXPERIENCE: • 4+ years of direct IT experience JOB SKILLS: • Ability and willingness to acquire in depth business knowledge • Thorough understanding of the energy business is a big plus but not required • Ability to translate business requirements into specific system requirements • Ability to formulate logical statements of business, scientific and/or engineering requirements • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Fluency in VB and .net – knowledge of Java and other languages and tools a plus. • Strong knowledge in MS SQL Server 2000 and 2005 • Understanding of systems architecture and methodology • Understanding of data architecture and relational database methodology • Ability to work independently and without supervision • Track record of successful teamwork on demanding IT projects • Ability to communicate and handle frequent business customer interaction We are proud to be an EEO/AA employer M/F/D/V.
