Tax Director

Position Description:

RealNetworks, Inc. is a rapidly growing, web based, digital music, online gaming and streaming company headquartered in Seattle, Washington, that provides the universal platform for the delivery of any digital media, from any point of origin, across virtually any network, to any person on any Internet-enabled device, anywhere in the world.We are in search of a Tax Director for our Tax team within the Finance group. This position requires a highly technical “roll up your shirt-sleeves” self-starter with the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects and changing priorities. Good communication and interpersonal/people skills are required as this position will work with many groups both within and outside RealNetworks including: Finance, Legal, HR. Executive Management, financial and tax auditors and international personnel.Responsible for day-to-day tax compliance, planning and identification of key issues and areas of risk with workable solutions. Oversee Tax Manager and ensure tax provision and disclosure elements of financial statements are accurate and complete. Support key corporate projects and identify hidden areas of potential tax savings and opportunities such as transactional tax, M&A cost reduction, and penalties and interest expense.Requirements include minimum 6 - 10 years of tax experience, with preference for a mix of Big 4 and Corporate environments.PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEssential Functions: % of Time1. Financial Statement Tax Provision and Disclosures – 25%2. Fax Compliance, Washington B&O, sales and use, RN and Rhap America – 25%3. Fax Audits, International, Federal and State – 25%4. International support — VAT, PE risk, etc. – 15%5. Special Projects (Comet, Genius, integration, etc.) – 5%6.
