Job Description:
This position is in the IC implementation product line, one of the most exciting product lines in EDA industry today. Mentor is seeking a highly motivated individual with the capability and desire to make an impact. Technical marketing engineering plays a key role in supporting our rapid growth and expanding development activities. The TME position is responsible for driving the development, enhancement and adoption of Mentor’s place & route solution.
Main responsibilities include writing functional specs for product improvements, alpha/beta testing and rollout, methodology development, customer training and presentations, demo development, and product/benchmark support. The individual will also provide in-depth technical support for our customers/partners, defining and characterizing new product capabilities necessary to meet customer requirements, supporting development partnerships, and working closely with Technical Marketing Engineers as well as Product Marketing to communicate the value and benefits of new features and capabilities. Prior experience in managing foundry partnerships and methodology development is desired.
Requirements:BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.5+ years of industry experience with 2+ years EDA or physical IC design experience. Requires a strong understanding of physical design tools and flows. Must have hands-on experience with place & route, physical synthesis, and signoff tools. Requires prior working experience with one or more of the following tools: Mentor (Pinnacle, Olympus-SoC, Calibre), Synopsys (IC Compiler, Physical Compiler, Astro, PrimeTime, Star-RCXT), Cadence (SoC Encounter, CeltIC), and Magma (BlastFusion). Must be familiar with Unix and Perl/Tcl scripting. Requires good problem-solving, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Prior experience in managing technical projects/customer support/benchmarks desired. Is able to work on-site at customer premises, has good customer interfacing skills, and able to work with a broad array of individuals in a cross-functional team.
