Technical Specialist - Oracle

JOB DESCRIPTION:RESPONSIBILITIESThis position works with business representatives, analysts and team members to utilize the UPS processes and requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions.  The primary goal of the Technical Specialist is to analyze business requirements and participate in project technical designs and architectures.  This position performs technical analysis and assists in debugging complex errors.  This position involves supporting and maintaining Oracle 11i General Ledger application and interfacing in and out of the General Ledger.ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Interacts with all project team members, all support groups, vendors, suppliers and upper management. Aligns architectural strategy with business goals. Provides technical analysis for the evaluation of and provide recommendations for application packages. Researches and evaluates software/hardware products and industry trends to assist in project development and operational support activities. Analyzes existing applications to identify weaknesses and develops opportunities for improvements. Interprets business requirements, identifying how they fit into new or existing processes. Recommends expenditures based on the size, scope, and cost of hardware and software components.KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE Strong background in Financial Applications preferably with experience in Oracle Financials. Experience in development and deployment of Oracle applications. Ability to participate in all phases of a project including Analysis, Detail Design, Coding, Testing and Deployment. Strong coding experience in SQL, PL/SQL and Shell scripting. Strong knowledge and experience in Oracle RDBMS,UNIX and LINUX Operating systems. Knowledge of Oracle E. Business Suite a plus.SKILLS Ability to communicate orally and in writing with both technical and non-technical staff. Ability to handle complex assignments with little or no assistance. Strong ability to adapt to changing technology and priorities. Proficient in analysis, design, code, unit test, integration and deployment support. Advanced planning, organizing, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
