As a Systems Engineer concentrating on IP and TDM Telephony, you will play a significant role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of Akamai’s corporate telephony and audiovisual infrastructure. As part of your responsibilities, you will: -Work as part of a team to provide vision and support for Akamai’s Global telephony and AV infrastructure -Monitor and maintain Akamai’s telecommunication infrastructure, including PBX systems, gateways, voice mail systems, audio bridge, and underlying network architecture -Design and implement PBX dial plans, route patterns, CMS, VDN/Vectors, and agent and skill set configurations -Manage cross functional projects focusing on voice and data networking -Provide training and support to Help Desk and other internal organizations -Create and maintain detailed documentation -Carry a pager 24 x 7 x 365 in case of emergencies -Travel occasionally, as required What qualities are we looking for? -Demonstrated technical and project management experience working with voice and data networks -A thorough understanding of VoIP technology and protocols, with an emphasis on Avaya implementations -Advanced knowledge of Avaya G3 series, S87xx VoIP PBX systems, S8300 Media Servers, Media Gateways, and CMS; Intuity Audix; and Audio/Video conferencing and peripheral equipment. -Comprehensive understanding of VoIP protocols and QoS. -Demonstrated proficiency in core internetworking concepts and technologies: OSI model, TCP/IP, VLANS, trunks, ACL’s, DNS, etc. -A strong background dealing with CTI applications in a call center environment, with a deep understanding of ACD, VDN/Vector design, call accounting, ANI/DNIS, IVR, and predictive dialer technologies. -Experience working with video conferencing systems (Polycom, Tandberg, LifeSize) highly desirable -Highly technical, with the ability to evaluate situations, utilizing logical and decisive reasoning -Ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment -Ability to work independently without intensive oversight -Initiative and ability to research problems independently and find the root cause Contact us!
