UNIX / Linux Administrator - Market Data

Client has multiple positions in their Market Data Group for junior and mid level UNIX/ Linux candidates.  They are looking for candidates who have a desire to learn more about financial services or have a trading or business education background.  Candidates should be enthusiastic, self-starters, and have the desire to learn more about financial services.  This is a great opportunity to learn about and interact with the business.

Background on the Market Data Infrastructure Dept:
 
The Market Data department provides technologists with the opportunity to be exposed to all facets of Market Data delivery and consumption, and to work collaboratively with other enterprise technology teams at every level.
Candidates will gain exposure to new and existing technologies.
Will work in a dynamic and collaborative environment with other IT teams, such as Security, Networking, and Server Systems.
Will interact with various business development groups who write and support applications consuming Market Data.

Essential Functions: 
Maintains and monitors Market Data Services infrastructure. Works on projects to deliver new services or solutions for the market data front end and server based applications. Consolidates and upgrades market data infrastructure and procedures. Participates in system integration projects. Works closely with software development in support of in-house market data applications. Works closely with vendors and technology staff troubleshooting problems. Maintains existing infrastructure documentation, document new services and deliveries. Monitors resource usage at the server level, identifies bottle necks in the data delivery and recommends solutions as needed. Maintains 2nd level support for current permissioning system including adding users and services as needed. Participates in periodical reviews of data utilization and inventory management. Participates in infrastructure testing with new hardware and Operating Systems against existing and new software. Gathers all market data infrastructure information from data delivery via vendor lines to delivery to the business via distribution layer and makes information available through web.

Required/Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in UNIX and LINUX operating systems and support.
Basic knowledge in LAN/WAN technologies.
Scripting knowledge is a plus.
Must have excellent task management, project coordination, and problem-solving skills, as well as desire to take initiative and work in a collaborative environment.
