We also need some Oracle DBA skills if possible. You will also need to be comfortable in a windows environment.Here is the official description:Job Summary My client is seeking a Systems Administrator experienced with high availability n-tier web-based systems. Will administer multiple operating systems and applications in proof-of-concept, pilot and production environments. Will interact with technology teams, business teams, external partners, internal and external customers and management. This is an exciting opportunity with involvement at all steps of the product lifecycle. Job Responsibilities • Understand how our products are installed in various web application environments with sufficient understanding to make changes to procedures to accommodate customer-specific environment requirements • Meet with customers and Our project team members to understand project requirements, and provide recommendations to customers for system installation requirements (hardware and software customer must provide to host our solution) • Install systems (ranging from bare metal through and including our products) in our test labs environments • Install systems in customer environments and participate in customer acceptance. • Some installations will occur from bare metal, others will be only installing our products on provided infrastructure • Setup systems and process monitoring (with customer IT organizations as needed). • Setup backup & restore capabilities (with customer IT organizations as needed). • Apply preventive maintenance measures. • Respond to security or other threats. • Perform system and file maintenance on production systems. • Perform Operating System, application software and VPN user administration. • Provide system performance analysis and improvement recommendations. • Resolve issues that require escalation for troubleshooting. • Review issue resolutions provided by others. • Maintain customer production environment(s) according to Service Level Agreements • Assist our Customer Support in supporting customer installations • Primary responsibility for our Solution Center development & test lab environment • Review OS and 3rd party software packages and patches and deploy in lab environment. • Develop and/or contribute to and follow processes, procedures and documentation, most commonly associated with product installations and configurations. • Contribute to architecture and design of customer solutions for proposal responses to RFP’s. • Provide input on RFP’s, Service Level Agreements and cost estimates. • Review and influence our product requirements, test plans. • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned. • Be available outside normal business hours on a scheduled basis.Requirements This position requires the following combination of demonstrated experience, skills and abilities: • BA/BS degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field. • 3+ years experience with Unix as a system administrator • 3+ years experience with Windows • 1+ years experience with Oracle (DBA skills) • 3+ years experience with one of the following: JBoss, WebLogic and/or WebSphere, with at least one year of WebSphere 6.0 or higher experience • Apache and IIS desirable • VMWare highly desirable • Good communication skills, verbal and written. Able to articulate complex problems, solutions attempted, and work with other technical team members to troubleshoot. Able to document resultant solutions to reproduce results • Able to solve problems under pressure. • Able to rapidly adapt to different customer environments • Able to understand complex web and database product installation scripts and instructions, to be able to make adjusts to those procedures dependant on the customer’s IT environment. Able to conduct product installations in customer large-enterprise IT environments with minimal supervision • Strong awareness of technology trends and ability to identify those related to the current business objectives.
