SUMMIT TECHNOLOGIES, Inc has employment opportunities in RESTON, VA for a UNIX BACKUP ENGINEER.  Candidates must successfully pass a background investigation in order to work within the government environment. 

 

JOB TITLE:

UNIX BACKUP ENGINEER

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

·  Work with business leads and Architects to do solution/engineer new and expanded Backup environments

for the customer that meet business needs

·  Install, patch, and maintain Netbackup Or Legato server client software

·  Create and modify backup jobs in Netbackup or Legato

·  Monitor backup job success/failure in Netbackup or Legato

·  Create and modify media pools in Netbackup or Legato

·  Manage media pools in Netbackup or Legato

·  Edit files in UNIX environment

·  Perform restores using Netbackup or Legato

·  Write and maintain Backup procedures and process documentation

·  Research and troubleshoot hardware and software issues

·  Willingness to carry a pager or cell phone 24x7, unless otherwise stipulated

·  Able to perform 24x7 on-call duties as assigned

·  Able to be flexible with work schedules as deemed necessary by projects and areas of responsibility

·  Ability to multitask, while maintaining quantity and quality of work

·  Deliver backup services against contractual obligations, service objectives, and account obligations

·  Advanced knowledge of UNIX operating system

·  Advanced knowledge of IP networking and protocols

·  Advanced knowledge of Novell operating system

·  Ability to write and maintain shell scripts in a UNIX environment

·  Ability to write and maintain windows operating system batch files

·  Ability to install, patch and maintain Netbackup or Legato advanced agents

·  Ability to install, patch and maintain Netbackup or Legato server options

·  Ability to engineer new backup solutions

·  Ability to perform backup environment capacity planning

·  Ability to apply Project planning skills

·  Ability to understand business processes and to translate business requirements into technical /operational

  requirements

·  Ability to participate in the design, configuration, implementation and ongoing support functions associated

  to backup infrastructures

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·  Bachelors degree in Computer Science

·  At least twelve years experience in leading backup team in large enterprise environments

·  Veritas, Design/Develop Advanced Skills Required

·  Veritas, Install/Support Advanced Skills Required

·  Legato Networker Backup Demonstrate Expert Skills Required

·  Legato Networker Backup Install/Support Expert Skills Required
