Autodesk’s Design Software Vision lets customers visualize, simulate, and analyze the real-world performance of their ideas early in the design process. The Vice President of Platform Services leads Autodesk’s Global Engineering and Localization organization and all accompanying business objectives. He/she will also lead key, strategic cross-divisional projects and services including AIRMax, Customer Involvement Program (CIP), Customer Error Reporting (CER), Licensing and Installation. He/she sets the mission and vision for these efforts as well as provides the definition of collaborative engineering processes for integrating global engineering operations into worldwide product teams. Reporting to the SVP/GM of the PSEB division, the VP of Platform Services will be an integral member of the division’s executive management team. Reporting to this VP is a talented, experienced and passionate group of managers, accountable for individual facets of the responsibilities above. Responsibilities: Provides vision, leadership and direction to global engineering and localization processes for the company. Defines and delivers the value of a global engineering organization to the company. Ensures the success of the ACRD organization and evaluates other locations for global engineering investments. Provides vision, leadership and direction to the AIRMax project and the PSEB engineering team building components for re-use by other divisions. Provides program management leadership for the project, co-ordinating requirements, decisions and dependencies across the company (To be agreed to democratically by ECT) Joins, and possibly provides leadership to, Autodesk’s Engineering Core Team (ECT) Leads and motivates a high-caliber management team in an environment that strives for excellence and rewards results Recruits appropriate resources to build and support a global team. Forecasts staff resource needs to coincide with corporate strategic goals. Reallocates resources as necessary/feasible to address technical issues Defines and implements staff development initiatives and programs. Provides ongoing feedback/coaching, training and development. Creates and fosters a collaborative work environment where employees are recognized and rewarded for their high performance Creates and manages effective cross-functional relationships; encourages ongoing communication between software engineers, product design engineers and product managers. Collaborates with executive-level members of other divisions to identify best practices, shares that information with the PSEB management team and looks for ways to leverage those practices; Works with senior management to understand business drivers, marketing requirements and competitive issues that may impact departmental strategies; evaluates risks and creates contingency plans to meet critical deadlines; Participates in corporate/executive level discussions, provides input into long-term, strategic planning for the company; Qualifications: BS in Software Engineering or Computer Science required, MS preferred 15+ years of relevant experience leading and managing a software development team 10+ years experience of progressive responsibility managing technical teams Demonstrated success in leading large software development organizations including software engineering, QA, software architects, release engineering, and documentation. Demonstrated success in building and integrating organizations, and driving positive organizational change. Excellent technical knowledge in software development methodologies, design and implementation. Thorough understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance.
