Video / Avid Engineer
Sony Pictures Imageworks seeks qualified candidate to join its Systems Engineering department as an Avid System and Video Engineer. The position is responsible for first and second-level support of Avid editing equipment and associated hardware and software as well as other Imageworks and Animation Editorial hardware and software tools.
Primary areas of responsibility will include:
- Installation, deployment and maintenance of hardware, operating systems and software
- Initiation of and participation in departmental and site-wide engineering projects
- Specification, documentation and communication of requirements for engineering tasks to Editorial personnel
- Technical assistance to a wide range of end users in a customer-service oriented organization
- After hours, holiday and weekend support on-call 24/7 as required by projects / production
The successful candidate possesses:
- Five years of Post Production / Editorial support experience in a Post Production or Production Environment
- Three years experience in installation, deployment and maintenance of Avid hardware and software
- Experience in SD/HD/2K/4K workflow, SAN Environments, TCP/IP networking, Sony HDCAM SR hardware, Linux/Windows XP networking and file sharing, Apple OSX, Avid/Unity hardware and software, Final Cut Pro, Pro Tools
- Scripting and programming abilities that maximize efficiency in daily tasks
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. This includes the ability to provide thorough written documentation
- Interpersonal skills, and the ability to perform as an individual and on a team
- Self-guided triage and follow-through skills to best respond to assigned duties
- Degree in Computer Science or in a related field. Significant related industry experience may be substituted.
- Support of mission-critical systems to ensure high availability
- Avid ACSR Certification and other relevant classes, certifications or on the job experience
