The successful candidate will have a solid appreciation of good software engineering practices and of the requirements of writing real-time, clustered multi-threaded web applications which utilize shared memory.  He/she should be able to design solutions, write PHP and implement SQL to a standard that enables efficient maintenance and extension by him/herself and others.  Also essential is an understanding of the importance of reliability, testing, production and support.

The role is as part of the Software Development team, and will involve regular interaction with the Systems Operations team. Significant demonstrable experience developing specialized application farms using XML and JSON intercommunication (REST and XMLRPC is a plus) as well as back end optimization, database organization, and sever side caching would greatly enhance a candidate's chance of success.
