Web Developer (Sony Online Entertainment)

The ProSource Group is currently working directly with Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) to assist them with some of their high-priority requirements. You will be applying for a direct, full-time position with SOE.

SOE is looking for a Web Developer to provide art & web design, development programming and content writing support for a variety of application development projects within a fast paced and high production team in the Platform group. The Platform group is the major internal support department for Sony Online Entertainment LLC. This group is responsible for creating and maintaining the entire suite of Sony Online websites plus the interfaces that connect Sony Online games.

 

Primary Responsibilities: Develop and maintain, as a part of the team, all of the company’s current and upcoming web sites. Interact on a professional level with all levels of internal customers, including producers and community relations managers.Keep abreast of web technology sufficient to understand how the technology is best utilized to market cutting-edge, world-class online games.Keep abreast of web limitations and the best techniques to overcome them.


Requirements:Expert Level Required KnowledgePossess extensive knowledge of Web design and development including HTML (code level expertise required as well as WYSIWYG type editors), DHTML, CSS, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Microsoft Word, OutlookStrong Understanding Of/Useful KnowledgeAdobe Photoshop, Flash & ActionScript, JavaScript, Java Server Pages (JSP), XML, Macromedia Fireworks, FTP, command line Unix/Linux.Beneficial (But Not Required)Eclipse, Perforce, Velocity, Java, Tomcat, Apache, SQL and database design, PERL CGI, PHP, Active Server Pages (ASP), C++, experience with content management systems.

Qualifications:5 years, or more, of experience with a web development position.Any combination of experience and training that demonstrates possession of specific job skills.A demonstrable portfolio of prior websites.Experience producing design documents and project plans for large websites.Candidate must be organized, self-starting and precise, producing accurate work with minimal need for oversight and supervision.Organization and multi-tasking skills sufficient to prioritize and perform multiple projects at various stages of completion. Ability to work under stringent deadlines and meet frequent short timeline goals.  Strong oral and written English communication skills. Sufficient to both communicate within the organization and to provide site content when required.Competent artistic skills within Adobe Photoshop. Sufficient to provide generate own graphics for a complete project under the direction of the Art team.Knowledge of the web browser and platform inconsistencies sufficient to understand its limitations.  Candidate must be able to reliably follow instructions delivered either orally or via a design brief.Good understanding and vision regarding the web and the role of large-scale sites.Knowledge of, and interest in, the computer gaming industry – particularly the Massively Multiplayer Online segment.Knowledge of a foreign language a bonus. Particularly French, German or Japanese. 

Education:Education or experience equivalent to a B.S degree in computer science or other related field.Evidence of ongoing professional development (i.e. Programming certification, College courses, etc.)
