Web Development Engineer - Digital Music Download Service

Position Overview

If you are an experienced web development engineer interested in working on the leading MP3 download store, our client is waiting to hear from you.  Located in the San Francisco's financial district,  our client offers excellent career opportunities to work on a world-class, large, scalable, web-service-oriented architecture, in a startup-like environment. 

 

This position reports to the Engineering Manager.  The initial scope involves working on the internal web-based store management tools (intranet and extranet).  Upon gaining more experience, the scope may be extended to building new functionality for the store itself.



Qualifications

v  must have BS CS or equivalent experience

v  must have 3+ years professional web development experience on a Unix-based platform, in a high-level language like Mason/Perl, PHP, or Python.  Java development experience a big plus.

v  must have expert-level knowledge of the web presentation technology stack (HTML, CSS, JS)

v  must have working knowledge of XML, JSON, REST, http, Unix, including shell and command-line utilities

v  must have prior experience building rich web applications using AJAX or Adobe Flash/AIR a plus

v  must have a proven ability to learn and adopt to new, complex development environments.  Superb analitycal skills.

v  must have excellent communications, strong team ethic, and attention to details - be meticulous!

 

 

Responsibilities

v  will work with the Content Operations team to understand the team's business processes, and define functional requirements for new features in the content management system

v  will design and implement the user interface of such new features

v  will contribute to the extensions of the CMS required for the international launches

v  will relentlessly continue to improve the CMS user interface and functionality to increase the operations team productivity

v  will design and implement the new vendor-facing functionality of the system

v  will communicate effectively with other developers, QA, product managers, and content operations staff

v  will participate in the on-call rotation for the operations
