Wireless Systems Engineer

This position involves working with 2nd and 3rdgeneration cellular wireless protocols, developing a system using GSM and CDMA system concepts including system architecture, data and voice communication protocols/structures, control protocols and vocoder mechanisms. The candidate will develop an intimate familiarity with higher layer network protocols and the convergence of circuit-switched cellular network architecture with IP network architecture.

The ideal candidate will have experience interfacing with various components of a mobile wireless system including base station and mobile switching center. Some software coding is required for this position.  Knowledge of Linux, C++ and Python programming is a plus.  This position also requires the ability to describe system functions so that others can implement in software.  Candidate should have effective written, oral and non-verbal (listening) communication skills. 

The ideal candidate will have experience prepare specifications and resolve difficult coordination requirements, follow conventional engineering practices, lead process studies, prototyping efforts and research investigations.

 

Knowledge of software processes and architecture of software systems is required.  The candidate should have experience in the development of a modular software system as an architect or as a software engineer.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or computer science.

• Advanced degree desired.

• 4+ years of engineering experience or equivalent.

• Experience with projects in the cellular wireless field and military systems design.

• USCitizen with ability to obtain a US DoD security clearance.  A TS-SCI clearance is required for this position.

• Travel may be required on occasion.
