The position is responsible for managing all customer- and prospect-facing email marketing communications and will work closely with the salesforce.com creative team on email design and copy. The position will define salesforce.com’s audience targeting strategy, testing methodology and measurement of email marketing effectiveness. In addition, this individual will drive the development of tools, processes, and framework to ensure operational compliance and efficiency. Responsibilities: As a Senior Email Marketing Manager you will responsible for: Owning all aspects of the email marketing channel Develop and manage the email communication plan to increase customer acquisition, engagement, customer retention, up-sell/cross-sell opportunities & revenue via newsletters and email campaigns Develop and test customer acquisition and retention email programs Track performance relative to targets and continually act to optimize results Set up email campaigns in email service provider platform, test, and deploy Develop value propositions and messaging via compelling communications Lead email white listing & ISP relations, CAN-SPAM compliance, and email vendor relationships Manage database issues and improvements with internal partners and third-party database partners Work cross-functionally within Marketing to develop audience targeting and testing strategies Provide insights on customer intelligence to refine targeting strategies Provide functional expertise, leadership and direction to Marketing Data Manager and email production staff on data pulls, segmentation, and any tracking requirements as defined by the business Monitor all list requests and manage the email marketing calendar to ensure appropriate audience targeting and compliance with mail frequency policy Ensure accuracy and integrity of data, information overlays from internal and external sources, and updates to the databases Identify and recommend process, data, and tool improvements Document salesforce.com segmentation process and policies Ensure customer data policies and salesforce.com’s privacy policy are enforced Manage a team of resources responsible for lead and contact data quality, segmentation, and executing all outbound email marketing campaigns.Required Skills/Experience: 7-10 years experience in Database Marketing or Database/Marketing Operations with a demonstrated track record in successful email marketing Experience with databases, segmentation, multi-variate testing and/or other marketing testing, and marketing data analysis Excellent quantitative skills with an ability to identify trends/insights from data Demonstrated ability to drive revenue and response from email 2+ years managing staff. Reputation as being effective in your communication (written, verbal and presentation) between both technical and non-technical audiences Proficiency with email service provider & software for deployment and analytics Demonstrated understanding of email marketing best practices and target marketing, with a track record of meeting campaign performance goals. Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities Excellent people skills to work across the organization and global salesforce.com offices Business-to-Business technology marketing experience is desirable Proficiency with SQL, Business Objects or other analytics application, Excel and MS Office applications. Experience with online analytics tools such as Google Analytics, NetTracker, Omniture, and WebTrends.
