Accounting Controller / Office Manager

A Monmouth County company specializing in construction is looking for an experienced, hands on Accounting Controller / Office Manager.  This position will oversee all accounting functions within the organization including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.  The Accounting Controller / Office Manager will also be responsible for supervising the administrative office staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 
Prepare monthly and quarterly balance sheets and income statements. Verify and prove monthly bank statements, accounts payable and accounts receivable totals. Verify all postings by reviewing each general ledger account. Prepare quarterly payroll tax returns and sales tax returns. Ensure that all accounting activities and functions are met within set time frames.  Maintain strong focus on process improvements, automation, controls and staff development. Make necessary general ledger adjusting entries, as per outside accounting firm, reflecting new loans and equipment purchases.  Liaison with other divisions within the organization to coordinate processes and provide guidance and financial expertise to meet the financial goals of the company. Oversee accounting and financial system controls and standards to ensure adherence to generally accepted principles of accounting. 


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; advanced degree / certification preferred. 5 - 7 years of progressively responsible Accounting experience, knowledge of construction industry preferred.  Previous supervisory experience required. Must display the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and have the ability to determine priorities and meet critical deadlines. Strong analytical, organizational, planning and communication skills. Strong commitment to high standards, integrity and ethics. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
