Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 years experience in non-residential, mechanical/plumbing construction

 Ten years supervisory experience of construction labor force of at least 75 employees is a must

 Must currently hold a position at or above the Superintendent level


(This is not a Project Manager position.  We require hands-on trade and crew supervision experience.)


 

Summary of Duties: 

 

The Assistant Construction Manager is directly responsible for the overall field management of assigned ColonialWebb construction projects.  This responsibility includes the day-to-day management of Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents on the assigned projects.  He/She is responsible for ensuring that all work activities performed are in accordance with applicable contractual agreements and within project budgets.  The Assistant Construction Manager is responsible for employee training and development as well as providing other support and assistance to the Construction Manager as required.

 

Authority:

 

The Assistant Construction Manager derives his/her authority from and reports to the Construction Manager. He/She has authority over assigned Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents.  Acting in the interest of the Company and using independent judgment, the Assistant Construction Manager has the authority over and recommends hires, transfers, suspensions, lay offs, recalls, promotions, discharges, assignments, rewards, and discipline over employees assigned to him/her.

 

 

Primary Functions:

 Recruiting Craft Labor

 Employee Development

 Technical Skills Leadership/Supervisory Skills Safety Training

 Oversight of field quality, including drawings, specification and submittal adherence

 Monitor, evaluate and enhance field productivity

 Spearhead project pre-planning

 Oversee sub-contractor performance; schedule adherence

 Responsible for timely completion, sign off and turn in to Project Manager of all punchlists.

 Providing feedback to Project Managers on labor and other costs performance in comparison to estimate.

 Responsible for redeeming “labor” and “other” cost estimates

 Routing of communication and information from Project Manager/Project Engineers to Job Superintendent.

 Communication, planning, and direction to the Job Superintendent and not directly to trade foremen.

 Coordination and scheduling with Start-Up Supervisor and communication relative to major problem solving and resolving conflicts.

 Advocate and facilitate maximum use of shop fabrication and assembly

 Resolving fabrication problems and scheduling conflicts with the Fabrication Manager.

 Communication of schedules to Fabrication, supporting Job Superintendent who handles day-to-day needs directly with the Fabrication Department.

 Coordination with jobsite of equipment delivery when notified by trucking firm, within 48-hour window.

 Developing and maintaining positive relationship with General Contractor’s Superintendent and backup Job Superintendent scheduling and coordination efforts.
