Associate Chemist

Boral Material Technologies, Inc. (BMTI) is looking for an Associate Chemist to work in its corporate laboratory. BMTI is one of the main fly ash marketers in the U.S. The key responsibilities of this position include carrying out quality control testing and analysis for coal combustion products (CCP’s) including fly ash, bottom ash, and gypsum, providing assistance for investigations for new product development and new applications, and providing technical support to the sales force in the company.

 

The Associate Chemist will be required to use instrumentations such as XRF, flame photometer, DSC-TGA, UV-VIS, particle size analyzer, BET surface area analyzer, XRD, FTIR, and isothermal calorimeter on a routine basis for testing and analysis. In addition, he/she will also be required to test physical properties of CCP’s such as loss on ignition (LOI), density, and fineness using appropriate ASTM procedures.

 

Previous experience with XRF, XRD, UV-VIS, and thermal analysis (DSC-TGA) and a B.S. degree in Chemistry are preferred. Must be detail oriented and must have good communication skills.
