Explore the opportunity of world-changing work available to you below.CH2M HILL is looking for a dynamic person to join the firm as a Associate Resident Inspector, with at least 7 years of bridge/highway construction experience in our Oakland, CA office.The Bridge/Highway inspector is responsible for being familiar with all phases of roadway and bridge construction, including materials testing and construction surveying. There may occasionally be a need to function as an Assistant Project/Resident Engineer. Performs overall inspection of highway and bridge related construction activities. This includes documentation of all construction contractor activities as they relate to work performed under the construction contract. Performs source documentation of pay quantities for basis of payment to the construction contractor and prepares daily inspection report forms documenting construction contractor's operations. Maintains a daily narrative as required by the PM or RE. Inspects and monitors work for substantial compliance with the construction contract requirements and industry standards for bridge and highway related work. Identifies plan errors, site condition changes, or necessary field adjustments that are observed and makes appropriate recommendations to the PM or RE. Monitors construction contractor operations for substantial conformance with the approved quality control plan and erosion control plan. Confirms that traffic control operations are in contract conformance and overall operations conform with OSHA safe working practices. Performs necessary materials testing, when required. Oversees sampling and testing operations, when performed by others, and provides technical assistance and guidance to lower level inspectors (Firm and/or client employees).QualificationsMinimum 7 years of bridge/highway construction experience.
