AutoCAD Drafter

Our client a major manufacturer of industrial equipment, has an immediate need for an individual with 3 plus years structural design experience:


This position uses CAD equipment to provide support to engineers by preparing routine layouts, detail drawings, assembly drawings, sketches & diagrams with details to include all views and dimensions necessary for manufacture. Duties include making copies of drawings and maintaining information regarding changes to database; making simple decisions but referring most questions/problems to engineers. The position requires solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with engineering terminology; mechanical aptitude with ability to complete basic mathematical calculations; familiarity of CAD/CAM equipment and relationship of CAD to CAM.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Work directly with design engineers to produce preliminary and final drawings from sketches, existing drawings and electronic images. Calculate tolerance stack-ups to verify design fit-up. Design parts based on written and verbal descriptions from design engineers. Work closely with engineers to ensure that the drawings convey the correct information and are error free. Work from customer drawings, company drawings or specifications. Use the DOD drawing standards as guidelines.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Degree or certificate from a recognized CAD training facility. Computer literate in CAD, Solid Edge (3D), Microsoft Office and/or Visual Manufacturing. Ability to read, interpret, and use DOD standards and customer-supplied documentation. Ability to perform duties with minimum supervision; capable of self-checking for completeness and accuracy of work produced. Ability to receive and transmit drawings electronically with or without translation into customer CAD software. Self-starter and able to contribute in design reviews. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to apply and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
