POSITION SUMMARY:Plans, directs and controls the organization’s overall financial plans and policies along with its accounting practices and the conduct of its relationship with lending institutions, shareholders and the financial community. Directs treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, data processing, real estate, insurance activities, and certain administrative functions for the organization. Develops and coordinates necessary and appropriate accounting and statistical data for all departments of the business. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:· Directs the Accounting Manager in providing and directing procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls and services.· Directs activities as custodian of the funds, securities and assets of the organization.· Directs tax department in activities including compliance with tax filing requirements, tax planning, and financial statement tax provisions.· Appraises the organization’s financial position and issues periodic financial and operating reports. Directs and coordinate the establishment of organization budget programs.· Directs, consolidates and analyzes all cost accounting procedures together with other statistical and routine reports, including any desirable analysis of monthly departmental reports.· Proposes policies for the establishment and maintenance of inventory levels for raw materials, supplies, material-in-process and finished goods.· Directs and analyzes studies of general economic, business and financial conditions and their impact on the organization’s policies and operations.· Analyzes administrative costs for office space, telephone, and similar services and arranges for national purchase arrangements where appropriate.· Cooperates with organization officers in coordinating expenditure programs with forecasted cash flow.· Ensures the preparation and issuance of the organization’s annual report, and other periodic banking, internal and misc. reporting.· Compares performance with operating plans and standards. Provides reports and interprets the results of operations to all levels of management.· Forecasts short-range and long-range cash requirements and obligations, as a basis for maintaining adequate funds.· Assures protection for the assets of the business through internal control, internal auditing and assuring proper insurance coverage.· Monitors credit and collection applications. Approves terms above a pre-determined dollar amount.· Assists Marketing in establishing and maintaining product pricing policies.· Establishes and implements a sound operational and organizational plan in direct support of the Business Plan.· Keeps President informed of the Company’s performance and provides advice on all financial matters.· Monitor inventory levels and advise management regarding variances to budget.· Assures a positive employee relations position is maintained. Insure the Company’s management principles, policies and programs are consistently practiced.· Assures effective communications are maintained within areas of responsibility. Conducts employee discussion sessions at regular and frequent intervals.· Keeps abreast of current trends and practices in field of expertise. EDUCATION: B. S. Degree in Accounting or Finance. Candidates with a CMA Certification heavily preferred EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND:· Affiliations with successful manufacturing companies.· A minimum of eight (8) years experience ideally gained through increasingly responsible management positions within finance.· A minimum of two (2) years recent experience as a controller with responsibility for accounts, budgeting, cost accounting, credit and collections, and finance. Preferably annual sales of $15 million to $25 million.· Working knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems, well developed financial analysis capabilities, and demonstrated ability to mange micro computer operations and applications.· Sound administrative skills. Well developed management skills – principles and people.· Proven ability to recruit, train, and motivate personnel in order to balance staffing strength with profitability and growth.
