CHIEF FACILITIES OFFICER

Job Description:    The Chief Facilities Officer is a line position under the direct leadership of the Deputy Superintendent of Operations.  This executive level position supervises and coordinates the daily activities relative to facilities management planning and student housing, capital programs, SPLOST, facilities and land use, and warehouse and printing services.  Facilities management relates to the management of the district's buildings, their infrastructure and services.  Through appropriate strategic advice, procurement, diligence and monitoring, this position will secure maximum value for the district and its stakeholders.

 

Duties And Responsibilities:    

1. Coordinate, develop and present the district's five-year facilities management and capital program plan with inputs from district leadership.

2. Coordinate with district architect and engineers the development of plans and specifications for projects set forth in the five-year plan.

3. Manage all activities relative to the SPLOST program.

4. Develop and present building needs assessment with input from district/school leadership.

5. Manage the process and policies relative to the placement of students in the district.

6. Develop and oversee districts preventive maintenance and work order program.

7. Coordinate structural inspection with district architect, safety committee, maintenance supervisors and building principals.

8. Coordinate annual visual inspection with safety department, building principal, code enforcement official and submit results in accordance with current requirements.

9. Manage the district educational specification program.

10. Coordinate departments training requirements to meet all program requirements.

11. Develop the department's annual budget and present it to the school board.

12. Ensure conformity with all appropriate Georgia and Federal Law, State Board of Education and Fulton County Board of Education Policy, Rules and Regulations relative to operational supports.

13. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.

 

Job Qualifications:

Master's Degree in educational administration/leadership, business administration, engineering, construction, public administration or related field.  Skill in collaborative leadership of individuals and groups.  Extensive technical knowledge of facilities operations and the ability to oversee capital projects, maintenance plans, and funding requests.  Leadership ability and human relations skills, including working with and serving as a liaison with contracted partners.  Must possess the ability to articulate best practices in facilities management; plan strategically; plan and implement long range objectives; communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, school personnel and the general public; and effectively use data for decision making.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of five (5) successful years of senior level leadership experience in School District, Business or Government operations.
