CONTROLS TECHNICIANS

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

 

· The Controls Technician ensures that the building operates precisely as planned - lights, conditioned air, humidity, temperature is operated and monitored around the clock through advanced software; each building can be subdivided into scores of individual zones to meet monitoring requirements under the most exacting conditions.

· The HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) Controls Technicians uses knowledge of pneumatic and electrical/electronic controls to perform skilled work installing, altering, calibrating, repairing, and maintaining HVAC control systems, building automation control systems, and energy management control systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional markets to ensure safe and correct environmental and ecological conditions in buildings.

PRIMARY DUTIESDiagnoses and repairs complex electronic control system malfunction's requiring extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital controls systems.Ability to test and write modifications in multiple languages of systems software. Provides sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings.  Interfaces with branch manager, service manager, and service project manager on projects to coordinate activities as required in an ethical and professional manner. Provides safety awareness on work sites. Mentors and trains mechanical workforce on building automation systems. Provides support to the mechanical staff.Ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people.Manages assigned work to meet professional execution, of time and customer satisfaction and customer safety standards.Effective interpersonal skills in an ethical and professional manner.

o 2-year technical degree or an Associate degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or similar field – preferred but not required.

o 2+ years of industry experience in servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.

o Strong computer skills required as well as the ability to program HVAC related software and some basic network knowledge.
