Job Description:Dematic has an immediate need at our Grand Rapids, MI headquarters for a Controls Systems Engineer III. The business title will be STE Project Engineer. Under the general direction of engineering management, this position has the responsibility for the planning, performance, control, and completion of a number of concurrent large projects or development project with significant technological content. The Engineer is the primary contact between the Controls Group and outside groups or departments. The Engineer is responsible for the training and progress of members assigned to him. He must work closely with the Systems Mechanical Engineers to assure optimum balance of mechanical equipment and control equipment.This Engineer can also serve as a consultant, in specialized areas of controls technology, to Controls Engineering, other Dematic personnel and Customers. She/ He frequently conducts technical studies or research tasks and writes reports or papers on these subjects. He assists the Section Manager of Controls Engineering in matters of technical planning, policy, and procedure.Skills and ExperienceEleven years of combined education and experience in an engineering position is desired.Design experience wtih material handling equipment is required.Working knowledge of SAP is highly desiredForeign language skills are preferred.Must have demonstrated ability to create and maintain accurate and effective documentation and drawings in support of projects using established engineering tools, procedures and guidelinesMust have a detailed understanding of PC and PLC based material handling systems (Automated Stacking & Retrieval Systems “AS/RS”, Unit and Linear Sortation with associated induction methods and Pallet Conveyor Applications).Must understand how to diagnose, troubleshoot and implement various rules and conventions for controlling a material handling system and sending respective data sets over a specified network. Must have AS/RS Setup and Commissioning Experience and Unit & Linear Sorter Setup and Commissioning ExperienceMust have Robotics Experience (FANUC, KUKA, Etc).Must Understand how to apply, manipulate and troubleshoot Sequel Data Bases, VB code, C++ code. WinAC and Kernel mode device drivers.Must be Proficient in serial communications such as ProfiBus, ASIbus, Ethernet, Interbus, DeviceNet and ControlNet.The ability to diagnose and correct software/hardware interaction issues is requiredMust understand and apply all relative codes related to UL, NEC, IEC, ASME, NFPA, B20.1 and other codes as dictated by local city, state and Country..Additional Information:Travel Percentage: 30%
