Corrosion Technician - Special Projects Field Service

Our subsidiary, Peoples Gas Delivery, is currently recruiting for a Corrosion Technician – Special Projects field Service located in our Chicago, IL office.  In this position you will  Provide daily direction to team members, co-workers while performing own duties, may contribute to planning, work scheduling and minor decision-making regarding work methods. Provide feedback on team member, co-worker performance to immediate supervisor, perform cathodic protection readings on a gas distribution system in the field.  Measuring structure-to-soil potentials (voltage readings), analyze and interpret GIS information on a gas distribution system, investigate and ensure electrical isolation of corrosion families. Investigate and ensure gas distribution system steel components are adequately protected from various underground interferences, inspect and obtain voltage and current output readings from rectifiers, inspect and obtain readings from electrical bonds, gain understanding of corrosion compliance requirements as well as customer satisfaction issues.

 

The successful candidate must have a Technical Degree or Gas operations background and experience communicate to the shop personnel, contractors, and construction management to ensure operational success. Performs work functionally in EXCEL, WORD, Microsoft Project and other “Expert Systems” used at Peoples Gas in the corrosion control program.
