Cost Engineer II

We are currently seeking a Cost Engineer II at our Torrance job site.

 

The ideal candidate will be able to use the work breakdown structure and project coding structures to ensure that data is entered correctly into the project controls systems in a consistent manner. The candidate will be performing routine data analysis and development, as directed. This position may require some travel.

 

Job Requirements:

 

· Perform cost analysis, and control activities.

· Prepare specific budgets in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures.

· Prepare reports, graphs, diagrams, and other exhibits to illustrate cost status forecast requirements for Project Management and client.

· Develop and implement requirements for cost recording, reporting and analyzing standards, programs, and reports.

· Analyze cost trends and identifies potential problem areas.

· Promptly report anticipated cost overages or other unsatisfactory cost elements.

· Gather and prepare actual job hour, work force, revenue, and cost data for the project cost reports.

· Prepare change orders as required.

· Support project organizational and administrative activities when delegated.

· Collect and classify cost data, and performs cost coding as directed.

· Prepares and issues detailed cost reports to reflect committed, incurred, expended and forecasted project costs.

· Extract information from various financial systems to monitor and track project costs.

 

Education / Experience/ Proficiencies:

 

·  Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Science or equivalent work experience of 3-5 years.

·  Knowledge of financial reporting systems and controller account codes, and understanding controller instructions.

·  Candidate must be proficient using various Project Controls software.

·  Must have strong background in other tools considered necessary for cost execution as well as cost procedures.

·  Good understanding of refinery processes preferred.

·  Solid technical skills, with thorough knowledge of project controls principals and work methods.

·  Capable of working independently.

·  Capable of estimating change orders.

·  Knowledge of the interface and constraints of Engineering, Procurement and Construction.

·  Good interpersonal skills.
