ELECTRICAL PROJECT MANAGER: BEST VA ELECTRICAL CAREER

We can do what NONE of the local competitors can do. That is important to you because it creates security and a better level of income. We have what the clients need, and by being able to sell all the differences we offer, we have got the work, always have (50+ years) and are constantly adding capability and capacity so that we always will.

What we bring to the table for the client is also what will advance your career. The field strength, financial power, tools, systems, and technologies you can use for your projects will make you more successful for the client, the company and personally. The business systems you will learn and master to control project administration and finance here are comprehensive and powerful. In order to move up in project management, these are the tools and processes you need to master. Based on our integrated technologies service offerings, bonding limits, cash on hand, qualifications, internal engineering capacity, tooling, project histories, field force, prefabrication department capabilities, relationships, special certifications, federal security clearances, and integration of services (heavy HV and MV power to specialized IT services), there is no true toe-to-toe competitor on the East Coast.

We are looking for a Project Manager in a location with a strong economy. We have a pile of work that will not be impacted by the economy with a backlog exceeding half a billion dollars on hand as contracts with ink on them now.

You will find that our general management and field management have long careers with us, all the vendors fight for our business because we can pay them and they are paid on time, and the clients we have served continue working with us.

We can engineer and stamp in every discipline we build from true high voltage, to low voltage VDV networks. We go as far as having complimentary professional engineering teams that have both electrical P.E. and mechanical P.E. staff members for critical facilities work, because you cannot design and build a power system for a Tier IV facility without controlling both the electrical and mechanical design and implementation. We employ P.E. Civil Engineers as well, which allows us to work as a Prime Contractor on specialized jobs where we build entire facilities.

What we are looking for from you is your personal character (passion, commitment, drive, energy, intelligence and common sense) in combination with your project management experience and electrical construction knowledge and experience. If you are the person we are looking for you have been successful, but there are circumstance that make it sensible for you to look outside. We call it “the 10 in 2 circumstances”, and if you are experiencing this, you know exactly what we mean.

What we are offering you is a faster, broader, deeper and more satisfying track to the success you will achieve. Even though you might have been successful so far in your career why not join the very best organization that can help vitalize your career, put you in front of the best work, and continue to build your experience doing really challenging work?

OTHER THINGS TO LOOK AT

We are a hundreds of million-dollar sized PRIVATE AND NON-FAMILY operation and will hit half a billion in annual sales next year.

While operating in the most competitive electrical and systems construction environment in the country we manage to keep our senior managers. That tells you a lot about how we treat our staff and about financial rewards here. We will not loose track of what you have done, and it will not go unrewarded.

The local, state and Federal governments have contracted our services for more than fifty years and we have been entirely successful in that arena. Those old relationships are deep and proven. Decades of getting special Federal clearances for our staff have earned us the position of “invited vendor” for much of what we do. The point is here that 25% of what we do you cannot bid on at all. How many defense intelligence agency secret facilities do you thing hit the Dodge Reports or any bid list?? They approach us.

Big commercial, big institutional, big industrial, traffic and even transit are all sectors in our business along with the full low voltage and systems integration businesses. We even provide specialty Internet hosting services, and we provide content for those services as well.

Our strategy includes growth and our targets are absolutely specific. We have grown every year and we have accomplished that by a combination of ordinary relationship expansions, entirely new models for engaging our services, the expansion of specialized capabilities and by business acquisitions. That growth is strong enough and steady enough to allow every committed manager in our organization to move up the ladder. Numerous project managers have become program managers and division managers here. Some have gone farther. If you want to move up and get better at what you do and are willing to work hard to secure that, that will happen here.

OUR COMPANY

Most constructors are operationally driven. We have a balanced approach that has the drive coming from the engineering and operational managers. All the systems we are using to support our business process were designed to support outstanding field performance. The way engineering can lead a field force is to provide superior drawings that are detailed for construction and geared for the real construction environment and circumstances. That is exactly what we are doing.

Between the shop drawings and CAD layout detail drawings, field crews are getting installable prints. Our goal has been to perform the engineering up front so that we can supply operations with complete, unambiguous plans throughout a construction. We are getting better every day and will press on with efforts at refinement until the systems and staff doing the work is evolved as far as they can be evolved. Great drawings speed up the work. Great drawings allow apprentices to be more productive. The clients are not only getting the benefit of an exceptionally well engineered job, but we can deliver that job for less money. Clients generally respond well to best price and schedule.

We have estimators that understand field conditions, amazing field superintendents who know the world of schedule and can trade for preference in the G.C.s master schedule, real layout teams who can pre-optimize the work and handle complex coordination issues, well-trained field mechanics, and special support teams for larger projects that include project accountants assigned to specific jobs. You will work with a qualified team.

We have always personally supported people who have worked hard for us. The company leadership is visionary and has consistently identified new markets and ways to approach those markets. We do not have a sales department here, but we do have marketing types and bid and proposal managers. The point is that it is our division managers and project managers that do our general business development work. When they succeed at business development work, they are personally rewarded. We have traditionally paid significant bonus to employees that secure new work for us.

We delegate real authority to managers here. We expect senior managers to do their jobs with mission level direction. You will be a P&L responsible manager and will have direct visibility into all matters of productivity and cost. Your coworkers will be competent professionals.

A part of our success can be attributed to the way we treat the customers. We work hard to make doing business with us easy. That is a goal and not an accident.  We also try to make it easy to work with one another. We encourage professional consideration and courtesy. We want to build teams that stay together and are happy working with one another.

TRAINING

We can provide you with training on our methodologies, process and project control tools if you need that (as often as not this is necessary). We often have project managers’ work with our preconstruction group so that our internal estimating process and start up process can be learned. We then team you up with a veteran PM on a bigger construction so that you can see how our systems are actually applied before working a job solo.

Our approach to every significant construction includes modeling, risk analysis and pre-planning through completion. Project managers often begin constructions with pre-engineered construction phases and detailed budgets with installation units coming from estimating.

You should actually be excited by this. A great PM knows all of this is necessary and any company that expects to grow and profit has to have these systems in place and fully applied.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Operational review of estimates.Participation in the submittal assembly, presentation and review processes.Proposal development and presentation.Preparation of AIA format schedules of values.Intelligent job mobilization planning and financial front loading. LOCATION:

Mid-Virginia area is the location. We have a lot of long term work here. Nice housing in good neighborhoods with exceptional schools is affordable here. The area is naturally beautiful and the area has a mild four season’s climate. It is easy access big metro areas from here and just as easy to get to really rural areas for outdoor activities.

The federal government is expanding into this area and as that federal influx continues, housing prices will rise. The programs that will cause this Federal migration are already signed into law and it will happen. Money invested in this real estate market will be worth double what money invested elsewhere in the US housing market will be worth in ten years.

We have very large brick and mortar facilities here and we are staying in town.

PAY, PERKS, BENEFITS

The base salary range of $75,000.00 – 105,000.00 reflects differences in experience and skills. We have divisional profit sharing, a 401K with match, and merit bonus considerations. Great medical, dental vision plan with first tier provider. Division profit will be the basis for performance bonus, and this can be a very significant portion of total compensation.
