Estimator

Responsible for preparing an independent ATC (owner's) cost estimate. Compare and analyze contractor estimates including project labor, equipment, material and risks. Participate in ATC's project challenge process. Periodic travel to other job sites is required.

Estimate the cost of the work to provide the basis for estimates of various kinds including:
Order of Magnitude estimates for Electrical planning issues and proposed solutions 
Order of Magnitude conceptual scope alternative estimates
Detailed project construction estimates
Check, analyze, and negotiate contractor estimates
Identify and validate the estimate cost of scope changes
Identifying the degree of risk in projects, evaluates factors affecting proposed work and the estimate associated.


Responsible for maintaining a standard work breakdown structure to accommodate all project activities.


Communicate with Project Managers, Planners, Engineers and other members of the project team to obtain the best available project information, equipment and material specifications to use in estimating.


Evaluate feedback of actual costs during project closeout to continuously improve the estimating process and work towards driving down the unit costs.


Keep informed of the latest developments in equipment, materials, labor and economic conditions, as well as the latest systems, procedures and methodologies.

Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Business, Engineering, or a science discipline is preferred.


Experience: 
5 years of work experience, of which 3 years are in engineering, engineering management, construction engineering, construction management, project management, or utility project control roles.


Exposure to the electric transmission business.


Strong project management and analytical skills.


Ability to work under minimal direction and supervision.


Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word; Intermediate proficiency in MS excel.


Knowledge of work breakdown structure estimating methodology.
