Our client is an innovative and successful custom home builder and they currently have a need for an experienced construction Estimator at their corporate office in Linthicum, Maryland. This position is accountable for analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for custom home building projects. Several key duties include: Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work; preparing bids; selecting vendors or subcontractors; and determining cost effectiveness. Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions. Consults with clients, vendors to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. Organizes and manages a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized. Monitors and reviews new technology and products to determine if applicable to our clients processes and construction.

Our client works with premier builders and developers and builds custom, modular homes.

Estimator – Architecture - Construction – Custom Home Building

Experience:

·  A bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or Construction Management with 3-5 years of residential home construction estimating experience preferred.  

·  The ideal candidate should have an analytical focus with a demonstrated expertise using MS Excel in an estimating environment. 

·  Additional experience using Timberline Estimating, On Center, or other online digitizing software programs would be a plus. 

 

Other Requirements include:

·  An ability to read blueprints and plans.

·  Solid estimating, project management and design experience, familiar with all project contractual requirements;

·  Strong customer orientation; experienced in working effectively as a liaison with sales, operations, and customers.

·  Excellent communication and writing skills are necessary.
