FACILITY MANAGER (Construction)

$5,965-$7,324/month, 37.5 hour work week

The City of Oakland seeks a Facility Manager to plan, organize, manage and direct the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Police Administration Building. You will be responsible for directing and overseeing the hiring, scheduling and evaluating of staff, developing and monitoring budget, payroll, capital improvement projects, facility maintenance and repair, event booking, contract negotiations, client services and security. You may also supervise the custodial, clerical support staff and building maintenance employees. This journey-level staff person will oversee the construction, renovation and maintenance of current/future police facilities, investigate and organize plans, bids and scheduling for construction, modification or maintenance, establish/develop relationships with vendors and City compliance department, communicate proposals to City Council, City agencies and citizens' groups, identify life-span and maintenance considerations for projects, manage space allocation within police facilities and conduct risk assessments.

 

Requires a Bachelor's degree with major course work in public or business administration or related field and 5 years of experience performing progressively responsible and complex administrative and managerial duties in the construction field, including 2 years of facility management.  Substitution of relevant experience for educational requirements will be considered. Bilingual skills in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin or Vietnamese are desirable.
