Fortune 500 Company Looking For Experienced Surveying Aides
Summary:
Surveys land surfaces to determine precise location and measurement of lines, area, contours, elevations, angles and points for a variety of purposes. Record and compile data, notes and sketches to describe work performed. Directs and coordinates activities of Survey Aides I, II, and III.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:Operate total station, sub-surface locating devices, global positioning equipment, levels, etc.Record measurements with electronic data collectors and/or paper & pencil.Calculate data (angles, distances, heights, etc) to ensure that facilities are built in their proper location.Check and adjust equipment to ensure that required accuracy can be obtained.Coordinate activities and maintain communications between crew members and crew chief.Drive to and from job sites.Determine equipment, procedures, and safety issues to be used for each survey job.
Education Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent knowledge of English grammar, Algebra and Trigonometry.
Experience Requirements:
Minimum three (3) years of experience working on a survey crew taking various kinds of measurements with total stations, sub-surface locating devices, global positioning equipment and standard surveying equipment required.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Certifications, and Licenses:Ability to apply knowledge of algebra, trigonometry, and geometry to collect and calculate measurement data required for survey field notes.Ability to use surveying instruments and tools to take measurements.Ability to use hand or power tools (i.e., shovels, sledge hammers, machetes, chains saws, sub-surface locating devices, probe bars, etc.), to locate facilities, clear lines and set ground markers.Ability to operate survey vehicles (i.e., trucks, ATV's, boats, etc.), must have a valid Texas Driver's License.Ability to communicate with others on a radio or walkie-talkie.
Physical Requirements:Ninety-five percent of all duties performed are outdoors in all types of weather conditions, walking, standing, kneeling, digging, probing, lifting, etc.Ability to walk, stand up to 90% of time a dayRequired to lift, carry, set up and operate a total station (15lbs.) and tripod (15lbs.)Ability to use probe bars for staking and locating facilities up to 7 hr. a day.Ability to lift, carry and use locating equipment up to 30 lbs.Ability to lift, carry, and load supplies on to truck up to 30 lbs.Ability to drive hubs, stakes, lathes, rods into the ground using hammers weighing up to 10 lbs.Team Environment - Survey crews must depend on each other for clear instruction, problem resolution, performance of all tasks and safety of team members.Customer Interface - Survey crews are often the first personal contact for the company with customers/land owners.Emergency Operating Plan (EOP) Assignment: this position is generally assigned to Distribution Patrol.
