GLOBAL SEGMENT LEADER ENERGY AND MARINE

SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

Lead the development of BAND-IT’s “Cable Management” products business globally. Lead and facilitate the development and approval of strategies and tactics to profitably grow this business, based on systematically identifying and understanding markets, products, applications, channels, competitors and opportunities. Then lead the development of strategic and tactical plans to create sustainable competitive advantages in our products as well as in how we go to market and sell.  Scope of responsibility includes existing and new products, product features and benefits, channels, pricing, brand, positioning, customers, applications and geographies.  Works closely with our global business development, marketing, sales, engineering and operations personnel to develop and secure support and buy-in for plans, then to help coordinate, monitor and measure successful execution. 

 

REPORTING TO: Vice President of Sales and Marketing (Denver, CO)

 

LOCATION:  Houston, TX (note: this is a “home – based” position); BAND-IT does not currently have an office or facility in Houston.BAND-IT markets its products worldwide from our locations in Denver, Stavely (UK), Singapore and Suzhou (China), as well as from Sales offices in India and Mexico.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary process owner of - and focal point for - developing and securing approval of the annual 3 year strategic plan (STRAP) and the annual operating plan (AOP) regarding “cable management” products and markets.Products: cable ties, coated band, related application tools.Markets: shipbuilding, oil rigs, refineries, projects, commercial construction and various other projects.Channels: direct to end users or contractors, and specialty distribution, engineering firms, etc.Coordinate with BAND-IT’s regional sales and marketing organizations worldwide (see above) regarding all matters pertaining to “cable management” products, markets and customers.Drive, focus and facilitate the input to the companies “new product development / product improvement” (NPD/PI) processes regarding “cable management” products and markets. Researches new products, product enhancements, and product redesign that align the product development function with the goals of the organization. Evaluates the potential and practicality of products in development.Drive, focus and facilitate the input to the companies “marketing and sales planning processes, including, but not limited to:Input to annual and monthly updates to expense budgets and forecasts regarding “cable management” products and markets. Customer targeting and prioritization.Recommend and develop business case for revised or new sales force, distribution and channel strategies, such as direct employees.Globally coordinate strategies and action plans to get BAND-IT products “specified”.Lead and coordinate the search for other new application markets for these products.Coordinate, facilitate and monitor the successful launch of new and improved “cable management” productsSystematically research and assess existing and new competitors products and strategies as input to all the above.Monitor market and competitive pricing and recommend pricing strategies and action plans.Personally sell or support the selling of “cable management” products.

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Engineering; MBA in Marketing preferred.Minimum of 7-10 years relevant experience in Marketing, Sales or Applications Engineering with a well-regarded manufacturing firm in relevant “cable management” (or closely related) products. Successful managerial experience preferred.Successful experience in new product / market development, preferably in a cross functional leadership role.Strong quantitative and analytical skills.Strong strategic skills, vision and orientation; ability to synthesize vast amounts of information into compelling strategies.Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.Presentable, poised, confident.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)Solid experience working with ERP and core business systems. J.D. Edwards or similar preferred.Mechanically inclined and oriented; inquisitiveSuccessful track record in highly varied situations, both large and small organizations and multiple products and industries.International travel, business and cross-cultural experience strongly preferred.Multi-lingual strongly preferredPrevious experience with companies such as Panduit, Hellerman, etc. a plus.

Essential Functions:Domestic and international travel.Use of hands and arms for product demonstrations, customer site visits to understand applications, etc.Lifting requirements are generally less than 10 lbs.  but reach the company maximum of 50 lbs. (samples, packages, products, application tools).Wide ranging customer and end market environmentsClimate-controlled office environment.Fast-paced and varied work environment.Close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus are necessary to perform the job functions.
