Human Resource Manager - Hersey Meters - Cleveland, NC
HR Manager Opening - Hersey Meters
Hersey Meters, a division of Mueller Water Products and a leading manufacturer of water meters, is seeking candidates for its Human Resource Manager opening in Cleveland, North Carolina. This full-time position requires an HR generalist background, preferably with some exposure to labor relations. (The facility is non-union.) The HR Manager will be responsible for all aspects of HR management for this self-contained business unit of approximately 120 employees, including non-union hourly and salaried employees. This position will report to the local General Manager with a dotted line to the Mueller Company Corporate Human Resource Manager.
Primary responsibilities will include:Overseeing recruitment process to ensure hourly and salaried staffing needs are met in a timely mannerConducting new hire orientations, benefit presentations, exit interviewsEducating employees on benefits, policies and proceduresDeveloping and administering employee training and retention programsWorking with the corporate office in regard to benefit communications, policy changes, requests for information, etc. Maintaining positive employee relations by creating a responsive, open environment to facilitate employee communication and responding to employee concernsTaking a leadership role in planning and organizing employee activitiesAdvising local management and the corporate office of current HR issues at locationCoordinating and facilitating counseling and corrective action for employeesRecommending new approaches, policies, and procedures to improve the work place, and ensuring employee complianceEnsuring compliance with all HR-related governmental regulations and federal/state/local lawsCounseling managers on handling of personnel issuesActively participating as part of the facility management teamLeading disability management process (FMLA, worker’s compensation, return-to-work programs, etc.)Leading safety function and related initiativesSupervising HR Administrative AssistantPerforming other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
· Minimum education requirement - Associates degree in Business or related HR-discipline
· 3 years of related HR generalist experience
· Strong Microsoft Office skills
· Must live within 100 miles of Cleveland, NC or be willing to relocate with a partial cash relocation package offered by Hersey Meters
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business or related HR-discipline
· 5+ years of HR generalist experience with increased levels of HR responsibility
· HR experience in a manufacturing plant environment
· HR experience with both hourly and salaried employees
· PHR or SPHR certification
· Labor relations experience
· Experience in worker’s compensation and union avoidance activity

Primary work hours will be Monday through Friday. This position is primarily dayshift, but the HR Manager is expected to provide HR support for the location’s second and third shift operations on an as needed basis. Overtime may be required on an intermittent basis. (This position is salaried exempt and not eligible for overtime pay.)
