International Construction Manager

Qualified candidate will have experience in the feed-grain-food-paper Industry.This position requires extensive International travel.POSITION OVERVIEW:Responsible for overseeing the proper execution and quality of work on international assignments in which the Company has been retained for its expertise. Work closely with project manager (if applicable), project leaders, owner’s representative, vendors, and selected contractors’ supervisory staff. Responsible for the safety of expatriate technicians and their working practices. Duties will be performed both indoors and outdoors. This position location is on the jobsite.QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Candidate must have a minimum of five years’ experience in an industry-related construction field and knowledge of construction means and methods. Current CPR and first aid is recommended. Possess a general knowledge of most all phases of the project assigned. Read and produce work from blueprints. Experience with scheduling software, subcontract preparation and administration, administrative software, project control systems, and construction management methods are necessary. Position requires extended periods of travel. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Use effective verbal and written communication skills. Display mathematical ability. Demonstrate computer literacy various types of computer software. 2. Read, understand and enforce company policies and procedures. Plan and execute the assigned work in accordance with those policies and procedures.3. Plan and execute the assigned work through interpreters and/or scheduled meetings with the selected contractor and its supervisory staff.4. Produce work from blueprints and drawings and assist with the interpretation of the drawings and specifications.5. Objectively analyze the work of others and effectively communicate improvement objectives. 6. Produce quality work meeting company and industry standards.7. Listen to direction and suggestions from employees and management regarding safe and proper work practices. Understand and respond to all safety hazards and take necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize safety hazards.8. Must be able to perform general tasks and required skills such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling motions as identified for the position (attached).9. Be motivated—work productively and safely.10. Act as an ambassador for the company. Project a professional image, uphold the company’s ethical standards and maintain a customer-focused attitude toward the project.11. Work beyond normal hours as job demands.PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:1. Create an open atmosphere for communication. Exercise good listening skills. 2. Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedule.3. Prepare and submit Weekly Projects Reports, Client Reports, Daily Logs, Three-week Look-ahead Schedules, Master Project Schedule, and Monthly Job Cost Reports.4. Participate in and direct the Pre-job Planning efforts. Prepare the end of Project Critique.5. Interpret specifications and blueprints to contractors and their supervisors. 6. Recommend measures or changes in working conditions and/or use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crews. 7. Train and instruct new workers and staff as required.8. Manage the receipt, storage and inspection of equipment and materials as required.9. Prepare Subcontract Bid Packages, Pre-qualify potential Subcontractors, Award and Manage Subcontract work. Define work to Subcontractors and give responsible advice when applicable.10. Keep the project manager (if applicable) informed of all jobsite activities. Provide input for updating the master project schedule.11. Maintain updated purchase order logs, change order logs, equipment lists, project drawing lists and prints on the jobsite.12. Assist in determining project-specific procedures and standards.13. Work with owner’s representatives and engineers.14. Maintain accurate field documentation and files for the project. Document and confirm, in writing, all important decisions, agreements, conversations, meeting notes and directions given to the contractor’s supervisors or lead men and copy all copy all people concerned.15. Record any deviation in normal procedures customarily used by the company and reason for doing so.16. Perform other duties as assigned, relative to the type of the project being constructed.
