Journeyperson Temperature Controls Technician

Description
Perform installation and maintenance of building heating, ventilating, and air conditioning temperature control systems.  Assist with the maintenance of other building systems such as plumbing and electrical systems. Commission HVACR and other building systems prior to and during occupancy.  Test and balance water and air systems.  Acquire and maintain certifications and/or special knowledge to maintain specialized equipment as required.  Keep current with changing technologies.

Qualifications
High school or GED and a minimum 5 years experience in the temperature controls field. Experience with computers and building temperature control systems required. Apprentice certification desirable. Familiarity with OSHA safety requirements preferred. Must belong to the local Electrician or Plumbers Union, or join within 30 days of employment. Obtain and maintain a valid NYS driver's license. May be required to use own vehicle on the job. Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills, as well as the ability to work in a team environment. Ability to prepare written documents, reports and summaries of work activities.  Ability to ascend and descend heights and have agility and freedom of movement. Will inspect crawl spaces, attics, laboratories, animal facilities, ventilation equipment, mechanical rooms, mechanical shafts, sub basements and confined, isolated areas. Risk exposure to asbestos, toxic vapors, heat, cold, height and accumulated dirt.  Use of employer provided safety and PPE equipment is required, including respirator. Available to work overtime as duties require, including weekends.  Possibility of shift work.
