We are currently seeking talented candidates for the position of Lead Plumbing Design Engineer for our Dulles, VA site.  The Lead Plumbing Design Engineer will provide leadership and management for a group of plumbing engineers in performing system design and document production.  Duties and responsibilities can be located below:

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:  To provide leadership and manage the design of plumbing systems.

 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 Assists Senior Engineers in design tasks as required. Prepare preliminary (redline) design layouts for estimating. Performs deliverables and products such as calculations, drawings, and specifications related to plumbing and piping systems. Performs calculations for a project, such as equipment selection, and sizing, fixture calculations, product specifications, and design and layout for roof drains, sanitary lines, and water lines Assist in coordinating all aspects of the project design with project management, architects, and other trades through the completion phase of a project. Perform and check CADD drafting work. Responsible for Code compliance.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

 Strong knowledge of plumbing system design to include types of equipment utilized in the industry as well as general understanding of water supply and waste water system operations

 Ability to communicate with all levels of management, including project management and field trades.Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.Competent with general business writing.Has competency in basic computer skills to include CADD and Microsoft Office products (specifically Excel.)

 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

 

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, E.I.T. certificate desirable and/or 7+ years experience in related field.  Completion of classes in Plumbing Design is highly desirable.



PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:

 

· Ability to read and interpret technical documentation including CAD drawings, Blueprints, Submittals, etc.

· Ability to work at a computer terminal with mouse and keyboard for several hours per day.

· Ability to visit job construction areas and climb stairs, maneuver in and around pipe work and air ducts and work safely in close proximity to construction materials and equipment.
