MATERIALS MANAGER

UtilX Corporation is a Kent, Washington-based construction services company specializing in underground utility renovation and installation. We are the global leader in cable life-extension technologies. We focus on bringing wire and cable enhancement technologies to diverse worldwide markets. We operate throughout the United States and serve international customers through our subsidiaries and licensees in dozens of countries.

We are looking for a Materials Manager, to be located out of our Kent, WA corporate office. The Materials Manager manages functional requirements of purchasing, planning, warehousing and various organizations; measurable in terms of cycle times, cost objectives and inventory turn rates. This position has responsibility for the corporate office management/administration and the corporate facilities security, safety & maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)

• Oversee the materials organization strategies and objectives; measurable in terms of cycle times, costs objectives and inventory turn rates.
• Manage programs to ensure material availability and delivery.
• Manage Q.A. of incoming materials
• Control movement of materials in and out of facilities; inclusive of warehouse set-up, flow and inventory location management.
• Maintain information system for monitoring materials and supplies transactions and inventories; both national and international.
• Maintain and monitor information system parameters and data integrity for materials organization.
• Manage purchasing, planning, scheduling, inventory control, shipping, receiving and monitoring the flow of materials.
• Purchasing materials, supplies, equipment, and services. Examining and resolving shortages and quality issues.
• Oversee vendor sourcing and qualifications process management.
• Develop and lead sourcing strategies as needed.
• Third party logistics including contract development, management and administration
• Manage the corporate facilities, inclusive of the mail room, office equipment management & maintenance, contractors, plumbing, HVAC, rolling stock, preventive maintenance, and vendor management.
• Manage the corporate facility receptionist who is responsible for various day-to-day administrative tasks and special projects.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise purchasing, material planning and control employees.

QUALITY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To insure the Materials (inclusive of the warehouse and corporate facilities) and the corporate office/administration Departments’ activities are in compliance with UTILX Corporation’s quality standards.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Highly motivated, results-oriented, self-starter with a strong work ethic. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and effectively within a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
• Prefer B.A. in Purchasing or Materials Management with minimum 5 years materials/purchasing management experience.
• Certification(s) in APICS, BPCS or CPIM, preferred
• Must have a thorough understanding of the principles of inventory management, organizational development and associated accounting practices.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office software products including Powerpoint, Project, Visio, Word, Excel, Outlook and Access. Computer skills with a variety of ERP and engineering software packages would be a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong negotiation skills.
• Ability to interface with all levels of customer contacts from field staff to upper management.
