Position Description:

The Corporate Construction Department, located Pleasanton, California, has an opening for a Manager, Equipment Procurement.Qualifications: 4-year college degree in Construction or related field.CPM or similar certification.10 years of capital equipment purchasing experience.5 years of price and contract negotiation experience.Knowledge in refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical industries a plus.Previous management experience preferred.Must have strong customer focus.Strong negotiating and problem-solving skills.Excellent time management, multi-task oriented and very good organizational skills.Must be a team player and have excellent interpersonal skills.Good computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access.Excellent oral and written communication skills. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Negotiate and administrate contracts and purchase agreements for store fixtures and equipment.Develop detailed specifications and bid documents.Maintain and distribute purchasing bulletins and contract documents.Monitor division purchases to ensure compliance with corporate contracts, and specifications.Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve fixture and equipment quality.Identify and qualify new suppliers.Work with suppliers and accounting to resolve invoice issues and disputes.Communicate pricing information to purchasing system administrator and division Purchasing Managers.Communicate equipment information and procedures to Designers, Maintenance, Project Managers and Marketing teams.Work with division’s purchasing staff on equipment purchases, deliveries, and estimating.Interact with vendors, design staff, project managers, maintenance, retail and marketing on purchasing issues.Evaluate and make recommendations on fixture and equipment selections.Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.Respond to: Interested employees are encouraged to submit a resume by visiting www.safeway.com/careers
