Materials Sales Manager

This position is responsible for leading and managing the Materials Sales Department in market development and sales of construction materials, as well as work closely with management to establish sales plans and strategic goals and plans for the Southern California Branch of Granite West.



Essential Accountabilities:

Manage the material sales team to ensure business objectives are met.

Recruit, mentor and develop a high performing sales team.

Develop key contacts through market analysis, networking, industry association and community involvement to identify new business opportunities.

Develop and maintain personal relationships with internal and external customers. Understand existing needs and create solutions of value to both parties.

Develop and update market information on existing construction materials competitors to include sand and gravel, crushed stone, asphalt concrete and ready mix concrete suppliers, in targeted areas to understand their capabilities and offerings.

Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.




Work Experience
Must have a minimum of 3 years sales experience with Aggregate, Asphalt and/or Concrete.
Specific knowledge of sales process and team management preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency with all MS Office products. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Knowledge of materials and construction sales practices.
Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively disseminate information.
Ability to generate leads and close deals.
Public speaking and presentation skills a must.
Must have demonstrated decision making skills.

Additional Requirements/Skills:
Team player.
Ability and willingness to abide by Granite’s Code of Conduct on a daily basis.

Physical Demands:
Subject to outside working conditions.
Ability to lift 40 pounds.
Ability to stand for up to 8 hours.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field, preferred.
