Mechanical Engineer - Brayton Point Power Station

It all starts here, with you.Brayton Point Power Station, a coal-burning power station located in Somerset, Massachusetts, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer. This engineer should have a broad base knowledge of thermodynamics, heat mass transfer, mechanics or machinery, vibration analysis, fluid mechanics, controls, project management, and general power production systems and processes. This individual will be primarily responsible for problem solving, project work, performance monitoring, equipment and operation improvement, and maintenance strategies. Job duties will include:- managing projects from start to finish (obtaining project requirements, developing cost effective solutions, scope, schedules, budgets, RFPs, and work sequences, implementation, start-up, and ensuring proper coordination, communication, and documentation/reporting)- component/system performance monitoring and condition evaluations- improving unit performance and realiability through Root Cause Evaluations- testing and/or troubleshooting with Operations/Maintenance personnel- developing test procedures to support engineering and operating activities- performing difficult and complex work requiring thorough knowledge of power plant operations and systems- devising new approaches to problems encountered and developing engineering criteria ensuring compliance with design criteria and standards- at higher levels of proficiency, this individual is expected to provide technical expertise and/or team leadership as needed- may serve as a technical expert on engineering related legal and regulatory issues to outside entities- other duties as assigned.QualificationsThis position requires the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:- 5-15 years of related power plant experience, fossil fuel experience preferred- full knowledge of engineering theories and principles- strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead- strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing)- experience with Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office- an ability to think analytically and solve complex problems- ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices- effective working independently or in team environment- strong planning, organizational and project management skills.
Required: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering.
