Mechanical Proposal Engineer

  System One is seeking a Mechanical Proposals Engineer with experience performing various design, proposal and troubleshooting activities on heavy bulk material handling equipment. This is a full-time permanent direct hire position. The engineer should expect to work with little supervision.  The Engineer prepares all of the necessary technical data to design, modify or retrofit heavy bulk material handling equipment.  This individual is responsible for reviewing the contract requirements, selection of equipment designs, preparation of required calculations and specifications, and reviewing design drawings, as they are prepared.  Excellent communication and effective interpersonal skills are required, as there will be frequent interactions with customers and suppliers.  Responsibility for the preparation and presentation of proposals as required. Troubleshooting customer problems will be a major duty of this position. A major portion of the Proposal Engineer's job will be to make sales calls on potential customers.  Strong persuasive speaking skills are required.    REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.  10+ years experience in the design of heavy bulk material handling equipment.  Professional Engineer license is desirable.  Knowledge of mechanical and structural design  Outstanding oral and written communications skills  Strong administrative skills including word processing and spreadsheets. The ability to use CADD to produce original drawings and complete modifications.  Travel (up to 25%) may be required as needed. Technical selling experience is desired. Working knowledge of project/contract management skills (organization, cost control, and contract terms) is desired.Interested candidates may apply on-line.
