Project Engineer- Electrical

Location --  Engineering Department, Auburn Hills, Michigan

 

The qualified candidate will possess the following:

 

· BSEE degree

· 2 to 10 years work experience (some in a manufacturing plant)

· Readiness to travel approximately 40% (some international)

· Flexibility to temporarily relocate for the duration of a project of up to 18 months

· Excellent speaking, writing and listening communication skills

· Ability to work effectively with people at all business levels both inside and outside of  the organization

 

 

This engineer will work on both new, green-field, projects and projects supporting existing plants. Some experience in the following is desired:

 

•  Basic power distribution for 600 volt class systems, which include motor control centers, distribution panels that feed auxiliary support equipment and lighting, and AC substation transformation. Experience with higher voltages (15KV and above) is helpful but not required

 

•  Emergency power generation systems.

 

•  Applications and uses of variable speed drives and associated operator interface devices.

 

•   Exposure to the National Electric Code and experience in obtaining electrical permits and assisting with electrical inspections.

 

•   Creating contracts for equipment and construction.  Writing electrical specifications and making electrical single line diagrams and layout drawings, in order to select electrical contractors.

 

•  Proficient in working with and reading construction drawings.

 

•  Preventive maintenance for electrical distribution systems.

 

•  Secondary emphasis on control systems including 1) PLC programming, 2) interface systems to PLC’s such as MMI, SCADA and other.

 

•  Practical experience with industrial field control devices, pressure transmitters, thermocouple options, motorized valves, proximity sensors, etc.
