Payroll/Benefits Clerk

Job Purpose:

Provides payroll and benefits services by answering payroll/benefits questions; initiating and continuing coverage; preparing payroll and related reports.



Duties:

* Initiates new-hire information on payroll data by obtaining, verifying, and recording employee information.



* Initiates benefits and changes of information by obtaining, verifying, and recording employee information; informing insurance carriers of new or changed information.



* Retains historical reference of claims/benefits by maintaining benefits record keeping system, filing and retrieving claims/benefits and other information.



* Pays employees by collecting, calculating, and entering payroll data.



* Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings, deductions, job titles, and department/division transfers.



* Prepares payroll reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages.



* Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing data.



* Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.



* Maintains employee confidence by keeping information confidential.



* Accomplishes payroll and benefits and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
