Procuerment/Storeroom Supervisor (Cement Plant)

Under the general direction of the Assistant Plant Manager, the Procurement and Storeroom Supervisor ensures all parts and materials, needed to successfully maintain plant operations, are ordered, received, inventoried, issued, and shipped according to Company policy and best business practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for managing the overall procurement and purchasing process for all parts and supplies involved in the operation of the Midlothian Cement Plant. Annual volumes of these purchases are in excess of $100MM.

• Responsible for the management of negotiations with key vendors for procurement of plant machinery, raw materials, fuels, and other highly critical items.
 
• Develops and maintains a list of national/international contacts at plants with similar process/equipment to be used to locate and expedite urgently needed parts in response to emergency downtime situations.

• Responsible for managing the inventory control programs for all parts and supplies involved in the operation of Midlothian Cement.
Average daily inventory value is in excess of $10MM.
 
• Responsible for supervising approximately (6) Purchasing and Storeroom employees • includes hiring, training, employee development, performance management, discipline and termination as necessary.
 
• Works closely with maintenance and production management to minimize costly downtime by ensuring that critical parts for planned plant outages are ordered within the required lead time window and arrive in time for use as planned. These multi-million dollar projects require excellent teamwork and are highly time sensitive.

• Develops, maintains, and enforces plant policies governing operations of the Receiving, Warehouse, and Inventory Control.

• Plans layout of stockroom, warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, exposure to elements, and related factors of items stored.
 
• Maintains work order picking performance/efficiency consistent with Company’s business objectives.

• Works with the department heads to develop/alter policies and procedures to ensure inventory integrity.

• Develops reports and performance measures to assist in the management of inventory levels and accuracies.

• Responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.

• Ensures inventory accuracy levels are consistent with corporate goals.

• Oversees all freight and associated documents in and out of the plant.

• Minimizes material and equipment damage, theft, or loss.

• Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment.
 
REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Bachelor degree with emphasis in Business, Engineering or Manufacturing emphasis preferred. Comparable experience may be considered.
 
• Must have or be able to obtain Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) credentials

• Minimum 5 years experience in procurement in Cement (preferred) or similar heavy. industrial/ manufacturing environment

• Minimum 5 years in Storeroom inventory control, warehousing, shipping /receiving in. Cement (preferred) or similar heavy industrial/
manufacturing environment,

• Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.

• Experience/knowledge of MSHA/OSHA requirements is preferred.

• Basic knowledge of Accounting and Auditing Principles. Knowledge/ experience with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance preferred.
 
• Work requires strong analytical skills.

• Work requires strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong PC skills (Microsoft Office, project planning and inventory control software. programs) ORACLE EAM experience/proficiency strongly preferred.

• Creative and innovative thinking. Excellent expediting skills.
