Product Line Manager – Exploration Drills

 

Sandvik Mining and Construction, the world's leading supplier of drilling and excavation machinery, equipment and tools for mining and construction industries, is currently looking for a Product Line Manager - Exploration, based out of Atlanta, GA.  This position will be a part of the Exploration customer segment, and will report to the VP of Exploration.

 

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

In this key role, the Product Line Manager – Exploration Drills is responsible for the product line’s representation in the Region.  The role provides the link between the Global PLM, the regional & local Customer Segment (CS) sales team and their customers.  The role is product focused and concentrates on providing guidance and advice on the implementation of selling strategies for the product range to ALL regional customer segments, based on needs NOT based on where the PLM is located. Technical expertise, engineering support and application specialisation lies with the Product Line Management role.

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

· Ensuring that all reasonable steps are taken to ensure all employees are provided with a safe and healthy working environment. This includes compliance with the SMC safety management program.

· Strategic planning of business development for the product range.  This will include the introduction of new products into the market. 

· Organizing Product Training for sales and service personnel for the respective products.

· Responsible for the customer satisfaction and equipment performance over its lifetime. This needs to include responsibility for appropriate supporting spares and wears inventory (specifically of non-forecasted items).

· Keeping up to date in relation to competitor product development and competitor product performance.

· Building strong relationships with the regional and local CS teams as well as other regional sales channels.  This will include training and education on the product range, assisting with the compilation of tender documentation, pricing strategies, and the supply of marketing material.

· Visiting key customers in conjunction with the CS sales team to provide in depth product knowledge. This will include developing direct customer relationships with key clients and to help the aftermarket teams to trouble shoot technical problems.

· To provide regular regional feedback to Global PLM. This may include playing a proactive role in the International Offering Team that discusses the global customer needs of the future.

· Providing significant input into strategic plans for the continued expansion of the product line for all relevant CS within the region.

· Co-ordinate and review the information collated by the Regional CSMs, ensuring that product performance levels and specifications meet customer requirements.

· Coordinates data from the market for analysis, research and design engineering for the successful development of new product offerings

· Monitors test results for new products to implement improvement of the product

· Controls promotional and marketing material in conjunction with the Marketing Director.

· Ensure consistency of pricing and product offering when used across customer segments.

· Follows the product profitability (GGP) across the segments and takes mitigating actions if there are deviations

· Develop and implement plans and actions in accordance with global and regional initiatives and guidelines

· Managing and controlling expenses within budget.

 

 

YOUR PROFILE

The ideal applicant will possess a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or related field. This position requires at least 5 years in mining engineering (preferable in underground mining) or experience in an engineering capacity in an underground environment. This individual must posses a strong customer application focus. Equivalent experience in similar facets of mining and/or industrial sales is also applicable, including compliance with safety management programs. Bachelor’s degree is a plus. The candidate must possess excellent communication skills (verbal and written); Travel as required.
