Location: San Antonio, TX 78201 Employment Type: Full Time, Temporary/Contract/Project, Employee Reference Code: 1001056161 Enterprise Application Delivery (EAD) requires the services of a program manager to plan, direct and deliver its portfolio of application software projects. In addition to managing the portfolio, the program manager will work closely with individual project managers to influence quality outcomes and professional staff development by advising and mentoring project participants. Context-based qualifications: UtilitiesDemonstrated success in delivering business information system solutions to electric/gas utilities is a desirable component of a well-qualified program manager for the EAD project portfolio. Software Development and Enterprise Application DeliveryMany, if not most, EAD projects are related to SAP software system components. A track record of delivering successful SAP software implementations is a necessary, but not in itself sufficient, component of a well-qualified program manager for the EAD project portfolio. Familiarity with other software environments (e.g., J2EE) is desirable. Strong SAP product knowledge and management of SAP implementation projects is essential experience for this position. Experience integrating complementary systems as well as SAP “bolt-on” components is a very helpful background. Functional configuration experience as well as detailed knowledge of SAP technologies such as ABAP and ASAP methodology are beneficial. This kind of experience is most often gained through increasingly responsible experience with a consulting services firm, including the responsibilities of engagement manager/senior manager. Experience should include full lifecycle of software development projects – from concept to end of life. The incumbent’s experience must include full-time, full life-cycle participation in a leadership role on at least one SAP implementation project and at least one SAP upgrade project. Program management qualifications and responsibilities: The program manager must be an active practitioner of the project management principles embodied in the PMI PMBOK. The program manager is jointly responsible for the overall schedule, budget and quality dimensions of all EAD portfolio implementations. Responsibilities include:· accountability for outcomes related to all projects in the EAD portfolio,· developing integrated program management plans,· managing deadlines and dependencies across initiatives, · coordinating project team activities across portfolio components, · communicating portfolio status and vision to EAD management,· working with resource deployment managers to identify appropriate resources and manage their integration into the respective project teams · These requirements necessitate that the incumbent have demonstrated competence in resource leveling and integrated scheduling across the project portfolio, as well as possessing proven leadership capabilities (deliver results, build shared vision, champion customer focus, display personal effectiveness, maximize business opportunities) Experience with financial management (budget vs. actual), and business case development (ROI / NPV analysis) are necessary attributes of a well-qualified program manager. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary for success in this role. Education and Credentials: Bachelors Degree is required, MBA is preferred, 7+ years of SAP project delivery experience, with at least 4 years of experience managing large, complex, SAP programs, accompanied by continuing education in related topics, PMP certification highly desirable.
