The Department of Energy's Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility, or Jefferson Lab (JLab), is a basic research laboratory built to probe the nucleus of the atom to learn more about the quark structure of matter. The lab is managed and operated for the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Science by Jefferson Science Associates, LLC (JSA). JSA is a Southeastern Universities Research Association/Computer Sciences Corporation limited liability corporation created specifically to manage and operate Jefferson Lab.Jefferson Lab currently has an opening for a Project Planner.The incumbent assists project managers in developing schedule and technical tracking systems for projects. This includes monthly reporting under Earned Value Management System (EVMS) guidelines, collecting data on the cost, schedule and technical tracking systems for projects. This includes monthly reporting under Earned Value Management System (EVMS) guidelines, collecting data on the cost, schedule and technical progress of those projects, and provides reports to the project managers and control account managers. Provide assessment of project management data and systems to ensure system integrity and data validity and resolve questions or inconsistencies that emerge. Make recommendations for and implement changes to improve effectiveness and efficiency of systems and usefulness of reports to customers. Serve as a resource to senior managers on project planning, identification and resolution of interface issues, systems integration and conformance with design criteria. Monitor cost and schedule data and inform management when trends indicate targets/milestones may be in danger of not being achieved/met. Maintain databases and prepare reports necessary to meet DOE requirements and JLab management needs.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:BS in science or engineering or other relevant field plus 2 years experience, or an Associates Degree plus 10 years of experience in Project Management staff functions, or the equivalent. Must have demonstrated experience in the coordination of multiple projects and tasks; knowledge of best practices in Scheduling, Project Management Systems, and Project Planning; and good planning, analytical problem solving and decision-making skills. At least 2 years exposure to Primavera P3, P3e or other Project management software, or other computer applications is preferred. Excellent verbal/written communications are an absolute necessity. Candidate must have proven ability and skills necessary to exchange data between different software programs to achieve desired results.
