N.Y.C. SAFETY MANAGER/ASST SAFETY DIRECTOR Job Description: This position is responsible for ensuring that all construction personnel perform their work in safe manner. The subcontractors and their personnel are to comply with corporate safety procedures and policies and well as OSHA procedures and regulations. This position will report to the NYC Safety Director and the NYC Director of Operations Position Requirements: Strong knowledge of New York City Construction Industry and NYC DOB, DEP DOT and FDNY

 • Strong knowledge of OSHA Federal Regulations, state and local safety regulations, policies and procedures

 • Experience providing safety training • Superior oral, written and presentation skills

 • Demonstrated strong managerial skills coupled with experience dealing with multiple stakeholders

• Demonstrated ability to review contractors health and safety plans

• Demonstrated ability to conduct job hazard assessments (JHA) and review contactors JHA

• Demonstrated experience in conducting field audits and accident investigations Duties and Responsibilities:

 • Specific duties include hazard identification, corrective action follow-up and overall coordination of Site Safety activities, programs, and corporate initiatives to ensure the safety of site workers and the general public. In addition, be responsible for conducting on site safety inspections to ensure subcontractor compliance and reports directly to the operations officer.

• Ensures that all construction personnel are properly trained in the company’s site safety requirements and procedures and are trained in the basic OSHA regulations for construction.

• Reviews potential subcontractors’ safety policies, procedures, and safety performance during pre-qualification/bidding phase to ensure the company meets the established requirements.

• Conducts field-monitoring activities associated with hot work permitting, excavation permits, crane operation, equipment loading/unloading, etc.

• Maintains and records copies of Pre Task Assessment or Pre Task Plans.

• Reviews/Audits daily safety activity conducted by subcontractor safety personnel.

• Conduct accident investigations and incident reports as needed.

• Maintains safety records as required by the corporate office and government regulations.

• Takes immediate corrective action for any unsafe acts observed, involving the company management and subcontractor management for immediate review. Other Skills and Conditions:

• 5+ years of experience in the construction industry as safety manager or safety professional.

• Licensed Site Safety Manager, New York City Department of Buildings - Extensive knowledge of New York City DOB, DOT, DEP, FDNY regulations and OSHA safety standards and regulations for the construction industry.

• Familiarity with OCIP and CCIP Insurance Programs - Proficient in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, and basic Windows applications.
