Ransome CAT is a family owned Caterpillar dealer serving eastern PA, southern NJ and northern DE.  Ransome CAT currently operates out of 13 locations and employs over 600 people.  Giles & Ransome is our construction sales & service division. “G&R” serves the construction industry with the full Caterpillar construction equipment product line. Ransome Engine is a Caterpillar Power Systems Distributor (PSD) and represents Caterpillar’s entire engine (truck, marine, electric power generation and generator rental) product offerings.  Our significant investments in people, facilities and product support capabilities, combined with the world class manufacturing and support of Caterpillar, is the reason we remain the number one equipment distributor in the Tri-State area.   

 

Ransome Cat is seeking a Sales Engineer for our Power Generation Sales Division.  This position will be working out of our corporate headquarters in Bensalem, PA.  Position will influence end users, engineers and contractors to select Caterpillar and Ransome Engine as their preferred source for power generation products and services. Understand and identify market conditions, industry trends and technological changes that can effect or influence the opportunity for power generation system sales.  Develop long term relationships with key influencers, customers and suppliers to identify new project bids, future purchasing forecasts and competitive information. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Establish a contact list and call frequency for all contractors, consulting engineers and end users in the specified territory and perform personal visits to identify new bids for future projects.

 

• Assist end users, contractors and consulting engineers with system design, application assistance, product information, budget and project price quotations.

 

• Assist Project Manager/Engineer with specific submittals, respond to consulting engineer’s questions, seek and achieve approval and project release for manufacturing.

 

• Track projects bid, secure purchase orders from customers and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.

 

• Negotiate non-Cat accessory buy-outs for major projects and develop strategic sourcing alliances with key industry vendors.

 

• Prepare and provide complete support documentation to Engineering for projects sold.

 

• Respond to customer’s questions on existing projects and bids, attend project construction meetings, and communicate customers concerns, issues and schedules to appropriate staff.

 

• Assist department staff and credit to resolve customer payment disputes. 
 

Skills Required:

 

• Two years industrial, mechanical/electrical sales/engineering/application experience.

 

• Two year college degree.

 

• Engineering degree or equivalent experience.

 

• Basic computer skills - Windows, Microsoft Office, etc. 

 

• Basic engine knowledge.

 

• Strong organizational and communication skills. 
 

Skills Desired:

 

• Five years engine sales/power generation application experience.

 

• Four year college degree.

 

• Engineering design software knowledge, i.e. CAD, etc.

 

• CAT Engine Business Management Software, ISA, ProSpec, Industrial Design Pro experience.
